Mally Roncal is a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey. In 2005, she launched her own makeup line: Mally Beauty. Roncal, a Fillipino-American has always been quite vocal about women of color not adhering to mainstream beauty standards. Did she create a line that satisfies the needs of women of color?

To a certain extent. Although the choices are limited, it works for some. This mineral foundation comes in the yellow-based shades of fair, light, medium, tan and rich. On QVC, where she sells the line, light-skinned, caramel colored women said the tan worked well for them. So the rich should work for brown-skinned women with yellow undertones. Those with red, orange or neutral undertones will probably be out of luck.

If you’re breakout prone, watch out for the squalane and soybean oil. And as with all mineral makeups, talc, mica, titanium dioxide may cause reactions if your skin is sensitive to those ingredients.
